Sinestesia / Synesthesia

La sinestesia es una enfermedad rara  que afecta a una de cada 100  personas. Consiste en la estimulación simultánea de varios sentidos. Es decir, una persona afectada por la sinestesia, puede oír colores, ver sonidos, y degustar formas. No es psicológico, no es que lo asocien o tengan la sensación de sentirlo, si no que realmente lo sienten. Aunque no está muy claro, se piensa que puede estar causado por un fallo en la conexión de los nervios del cerebro que procesan las diferentes informaciones sensoriales. Las personas sinestéticas pueden, por ejemplo, tocar una superficie suave y sentir un sabor dulce, asociar el color amarillo con el número 7 o sentir el sabor fresa al ver la palabra "coche" escrita. Varios artistas famosos, entre ellos Kandinsky y Jimi Hendrix sufrieron este trastorno.

Synesthesia is a rare illness that affects 1 out of every 100 people. It consists in the simultaneous stimulation of various senses. This means that a person affected by synesthesia can hear colors, see sounds or taste shapes. It isn't psicologic and it isn't that they asociate it or have the feeling, but that they really feel it. Eventhought it's not for sure, its believed that this could be caused by a failure in the connection of the nerves inside the brain which process sensory informations. Synesthesic people can, for exaple, touch soft surfaces and feel a sweet taste, asociate yellow with number 7 or feel strawberry taste when seeing the word "car" written.Various famous artists such as Kandinsky or Jimi Hendrix suffered this illness.
